Saving Time with Technology

DSCN0797In today’s day and age, there is so much to read and do online.  I’ll share a few ways I’ve found to either save time or better leverage it.

  • A good Feed Reader (based on feeds).  A feed reader lets you consolidate lists of feeds you enjoy most and organize them in categories that make sense to you.  It also allows you to only pull up new articles since your last check.  Having a feed reader not only installed in your browser or available in a web interface can be handy to be able to access feeds quickly from your smart phone.  The main reader that comes to mind for this Feedly but there are many with various options.
  • A ‘smart’ Topic Consolidator (based on topics).  I have an application on my phone that has really changed the way I leverage free time.  It allows me to ‘seed’ in topics of interest and based on some algorithm, they offer articles that match those topics.  They also suggest other topics they believe I may be interested in, allow for me to save the article for offline reading, and provide feedback as to whether or not I liked the article.  Over time, its really become a great resource where I no longer feel like I’m wasting time away on the web but am actually learning sometime!  Though there are other tools, the one I refer to in this post is News360.
